<abstract>Interpretation of the USPS mail carrier ZIP Codes. Data derived from taxlot and master address information published with RLIS-Lite. This data in no way reflects exact USPS mail carrier routes and should be used accordingly.</abstract>
<purpose>Mapping and spatial analysis.</purpose>
<supplinf>The fact that ZIP Codes aren't required to be polygons makes them difficult to map. They are networks of streets served by mail carriers or just individual post offices and are a tool for mail delivery. They also change periodically as required to meet USPS operational needs. Metro has created this file by interpolating boundaries between occurrences of ZIP Codes on the ground using taxlot and master address information. However, this does not guarantee that the USPS delivery routes will follow this interpretation.</supplinf>

A field named Type has been added which indicates the type of Zip Code: 1 = Standard, 2 = Post Office, 3 = Building.</procdesc>
